Sport Tourism
The forests, lakes and rivers of the B. Iugan basin offer excellent opportunities for hunting, fishing and outdoor tourism experiences, individually guided by a local Iugan Khanty. Bear, moose and pike, as well as game birds can be taken under license. The Yaoun Yakh community has built a hunting cabin near a very productive lake for just such experiences. Authentic Khanty Handicrafts
For centuries Khanty made everything they needed from the forest. The tradition of making strong, elegant handcrafted objects is well-maintained today. Now you too can support these traditions by purchasing a handcrafted object of your own, each accompanied by a photograph and note from the craftsperson. Handcrafted items typically available are indicated by photos below and include ornamented baskets, beadwork belts, coin purses, and mobile phone pouches, wood carved models and utensils carved from wood, and fur and hide women’s handbags and boots.”
Special orders of complete Khanty women’s national costume are also possible. All items are shipped by insured post and can be sent overseas.
